France: Original WW2 badge of the French Legion 
of Volunteers and Combatants of the National 
Revolution (1940–1944) -  issued to Volunteers.
Maker marked : J. Decat, Brest - Vichy.
The Legion was established in 1940 by Marshal 
Petain and reflected the attempt of the Vichy
Government to substitute and control the existing 
Veteran Associations of France and to promote 
the ideals of Pétain’s National Revolution.
The organization lived shortly (until the 
liberation of France in 1944) just like all the 
other Vichy institutions. 
It was banned following the end of WW2.
