Combatants, featuring the blackened finish 
designated for widows and mothers of soldiers 
who died during the Great War.

This mounted single-bar example is particularly 
unique due to a mint error and the presence of 
an extremely rare maker's mark: "G&L.L.", a 
manufacturer yet to be conclusively identified.
Ideal for collectors of WWI, 3rd Reich memorabilia, 
or rare mint variants.

The medal was instituted in 1934 by Field Marshal 
Paul von Hindenburg, then President of the Third 
Reich, to honor all those who served or were 
affected by WWI.
