Denmark: Superb early example of the Grand
Cross chest star of the Danish Order of Dannebrog,
dating to the late 19th century (circa 1890).
Finely constructed in silver & enamel, this pre-WW1
insignia is marked with a small “L” beneath the pin
on the reverse.
A high-quality and historically significant Danish
order piece.
The Order was founded by King Christian V in 1671.
It was amended by King Frederik VI to 5 classes
and a silver cross in 1808.
The Order is awarded to members of the Armed
Forces or to civilians, Danes and foreigners for
conspicuous service.
