The badge was awarded to honor survivors of 
Nazi concentration camps. Its design recalls 
striped prisoner uniforms, featuring the symbolic 
number 178284, the number of Charles Oschkor, 
a kapo of Blechhammer Concentration Camp 
who sacrificed himself to save other prisoners.
