Imperial Germany: Rare WW1 patriotic cap badge
commemorating the dramatic sinking of HMS
Aboukir, HMS Hogue, and HMS Cressy by U-9 on
22 September 1914.
Inscribed with “Gott Strafe England” (God Punish
England), “Gott mit Uns” (God be with us) and
featuring the Iron Cross, this badge was used in
wartime fundraising campaigns.

Otto Weddigen, who sank all three cruisers within
60 minutes.
In total 62 officers and 1397 men were killed, only
