postcard featuring the Jesus-Cross of Saarburg.
This is a beautifully handwritten New Year’s
greetings postcard dated January 1, 1916, sent
from Tübingen to Fräulein Lotte Bensinger, a
nurse at the military hospital (Lazarett) in
Wiesbaden, Germany. The sender (most likely a
woman) offers warm wishes and blessings for
health, service and the coming year.
The tone is personal and affectionate, making
this card a touching reminder of home and hope
during wartime.
Includes green 5 Pfennig Deutsches Reich stamp
(1915 Mi. Nr. 85).
Postmarked Tübingen 02 January 1916.
